Another summer day
Has come and gone away
In Paris and Rome
But I wanna go home
Mmmmmmmm

May be surrounded by
A million people I
Still feel all alone
I just wanna go home
Oh, I miss you, you know

And I’ve been keeping all the letters that I wrote to you
Each one a line or two
“I’m fine baby, how are you?”
Well I would send them but I know that it’s just not enough
My words were cold and flat
And you deserve more than that

Another aeroplane
Another sunny place
I’m lucky, I know
But I wanna go home
Mmmm, I’ve got to go home

Let me go home
I’m just too far from where you are
I wanna come home

And I feel just like I’m living someone else’s life
It’s like I just stepped outside
When everything was going right
And I know just why you could not
Come along with me
'Cause this was not your dream
But you always believed in me

Another winter day has come
And gone away
In even Paris and Rome
And I wanna go home
Let me go home

And I’m surrounded by
A million people I
Still feel all alone
Oh, let me go home
Oh, I miss you, you know

Let me go home
I’ve had my run
Baby, I’m done
I gotta go home
Let me go home
It will all be all right
I’ll be home tonight
I’m coming back home

Christmas is coming! (:

I have a friend, whose mum had this crazy idea of playing christmas carols in the car cd player 6 months before christmas, to convince herself that christmas is just around the corner.

That picture was taken right outside Holborn Sainsbury Central, and three guys were actually mildly entertaining. Until we realised that they were lopping the same Christmas song again and again. HAHA.

It's my last Christmas in Europe (in a very long time I would suppose) and my second in London! Last year's Christmas was spent in an extremely sad and unworthy of mention way. I was at Sttutgart, with all eateries closed except for a Kebab shop near the hotel. I had 4 meals of Kebab, no kidding, and that that was the last time I had Kebab. I'll definitely be having Kebab soon though, given that I would be going to Turkey, but I'm assuming the Kebab I get there should be of quality.

And Christmas also marks the start of....SALES!!!! :D I'm contemplating a trip up to Bicester for some shopping, sometime soon! Wait till I get my hands on a new bag! My leather bag from NewUrbanOutfitters is dying on me already ): CHUI.

Doesn't this look extremely adorable and smiley? It makes me wanna smile too :)

As adviced, we should always be thankful for what we have and focus on things that make us happy. Beyond the masters applications, job applications, internship applications (note the special mention of applications THRICE in a row), there should be something more to life.

This is exactly what I have been doing all night.

The weekend started off with a mahjong session w the girls and a yummy win! After random topics like dreams and good ol' memories about RG days, hm and I left for our homes and I had a good sleep till 1pm (!!) the next day

Started on the show 海派甜心 (thanks to ys' recommendations) and it's actually quite funny! I laughed all through the first episode and apparently the second episode is going to train up my stomach muscles even more! :D

*

I mustered all my courage and clicked the submit button. Good luck to me!

Winter holidays are coming! This time, I've picked two starkly different countries -Turkey and Portugal! :) Am very looking forward to the trips - can't believe this is going to be my last winter in London (or maybe not) The excess euros I have in my drawer for months is finally going to be put into good use. Have a long break in between Turkey and Portgual;perhaps I should find somewhere else to explore.. or take a short holiday by myself.

Monday 10am. zz.

Amdist my grumblings about the 12345 things I have unsettled, it brought a sense of peace when I read this article on medical miracles.

Am becoming rather superstitious - dHoroscopes is one of my fav icons on my iphone now! It tells me that I should get the things that I am committed to done. C'mon Lynn! :)

Bittersweet feeling about getting up at 1.45pm this afternoon. It was a well- deserved sleep because I got into bed at 5am and I was quite high (and flushing) from the alcohol I had. On the other hand, it sucks to realise at 2pm that there's no vegetables/meat/mushrooms/eggs to go with my egg noodles ): got dressed and marched down to Sains in my hoodie, shorts and birks. Cold but happy with my grocery shopping, I proceeded to whip up yummy pasta! :)

And the reason why I slept at 5am was because:

Doggie celebrated his 22nd birthday at Gaucho! Boring I know, since we just had dinner there two weeks ago but it was his decision since it's his birthday! It's been a long time since such a big group of us sat down for a good meal together (not at Fourth Floor Restaurant, OR more affectionately known as BB). Proceeded to Marcus' and Ashraf's place for drinks and a game of Songkoks, Turbans and Terminators.

Friends got him FIFA 2010 and he is entertaining himself very happily on a regular basis! I wish I could share half his interest and play as well! It looks quite fun actually, except that his cui XP computer can't seem to support the graphics well.

Some things are worth investing time in. Trust it.

After a long dreary week, the weekend is here and to celebrate our 13th month, doggie and I had dinner at Gaucho, an Argentinian steakhouse!

The lovely and upclass ambience was slightly intimidating cos everyone here looks so nicely dressed.

Pan-fried squid starters was mediocre (we like the hk diner one more!) greedy me upped the portion of rib eye I wanted to get and I ended up leaving a piece uneaten. Besides the tender and excellent medium rare steak, one of the more traditional sides that we ordered was the humitas which was basically mashed up corn wrapped up using the corn outer layer. Quite interesting!

Looking forward to more yummy food outings!

I just had an eventful day doing all kinds of things

1. Met my PT for the first time and I am inspired to lose my flabby arms! Lesson of the day: eat my breakfast. I got pret's honey granola and coffee immediately after that

2. Extremely good math tutorial. I am so glad I got my ma100 teacher back as my teacher! (: he's one of the few tutors that makes me feel like I have something after that one hour.

3. International economics lecture, which reminds of how much I love macroeconomics all over again.

4. Satisfying lunch at superstar. I'm such a dim sum sucker

5. Visited qiyan's place at Canada water! It's quite a nice place to live around, and I like how the tall buildings at canary wharf can all be seen. Reminds me of raffles place back home.

6. And I met QC, qiyan's new pet dog. It omg seriously cute!!!!!!!! Now I feel like I'm not scared of dogs. Only the ones that are palm sized that is :p

7. Good pho tai, which reminds me of Les at harvard. The to-die-for beef noodles ): sometimes I wish I could teleport myself there for Les and then back to London. Haha.

I wish my everyday is more exciting.

We should learn to forgive and forget, shouldn't we?

Despite all the disagreements, discordance and disappointment, there must be something good about everyone.

I think I'm having a quarter life crisis.

ULU
2 ULUs for last night

Doggie and I had a pre 1 year celebration at Uluru. (The website is really cute. Whenever it links to the next page, it goes MOOOOOO! )The place was surprisingly quiet, perhaps because everyone has to work today and we were there only an hour before closing.Had the set dinner (200 day old angus beef!) and a lime margarita. My horrible alcohol tolerance acted up again; after slightly less than a quarter of the drink, my face was flushing ): Thank goodness I wasn't the one driving.

Second ULU is a bit spooky! We decided to head over to Fort Canning Park for a walk after the satisfying dinner. After parking at the entrance near Clarke Quay, we walked towards the flight of stairs before deciding that the area was too dark and quiet. Turning out of the car park, we heitated if we would wanna walk around CQ or head home.

Clarke Quay it is! So we turned back to the same car park (since it was near CQ and free parking!) then the spookiness came on. We couldnt lock the car without the alarm sounding. We tried at least 10 times; after locking the car, the alarm would sound about five seconds later. How to leave the car!?

So we called for help - only my sis (in my family) was awake at that time so I tried asking her if the car gave such problems before. And while solving the problem, I began to feel a bit nauseous. Thinking that it was from the stupid margarita I drank, I asked to sit down in the car to rest for awhile. It was then we decided, maybe, we should go since I wasn't feeling well and we could never leave the car unattended with the alarm sounding.

I felt much better after we left the place. No nausea, no discomfort. NOT KIDDING!!! When we got home, the car locked without setting off the alarm. o.O We googled 'fort canning park haunted' and voila, articles and night explorer tours came up :s

I don't wanna go back there again!!!

It was a year ago that Debbie, Geri and myself sat down for drinks at Brauhaus at United Square.

I remember vaguely that we mentioned we'll come back another time to try the main dishes. Little did we know, the next time would mean a year later. So yesterday we had dinner at Brauhaus - pork knuckles, sausage platter and beer. Brozeit is definitely way better! The food was alright. It was the people that made my evening! :)

It's so sad how we're growing old so quickly! While Geri and I were lamenting about how uni should be 4 years instead of 3, Debbie was so sick of school that she said she wanted it to end in 2 years! Then the topics we talked about veered towards employment and salaries.

We ARE growing old.

And, I don't wanna go back to London YET. It's too late to say this, but I regret having plans to travel before school starts! :(

It's not everyday that you'll see me doing water sports. In fact, the last time I did watersports before Wednesday was in Secondary Three, when I was forced to kayak for 20hrs. I even remember the smell of the dead fish and I abstained from any form of seafood for a week!

Ok, point here is, I went to Batam to Cable Ski! :D It was an extremely tiring experience; I crashed into the waters at least a hundred times and barely made it on the wake board! There was probably a reason why I never did watersports after OBS. (:

It's amazing how these pro surf in and out of the waves, do stunts and land beautifully on the waters again. Wish I could do that!

The team of 6 who resisted the waves and the jerk of the cable!

I received the cutest gift ever! Thank you doggie! <3

Ok, I actually do want a massage. In the 5 days we spent there, i had 3 body massages and 2 foot massages, all at the fraction of the price I would be paying in Singapore.

Phuket landscape remains similar to what I have in my vague memories except for the gross inflation in prices. The crazily touristy Patong Beach was mildly entertaining (at least for the few days that we were there) and I had my fair share of fun bargaining with the shop owners. My best bet is just to say that I'm a poor student with no money and for some weird reason, it works! Hee!

We stayed at an ulu Marriott hotel, which had prices equivalent to that of a normal hotel in Patong area (met lulu on the way to Phuket!) Kinda tradeoff cos we then had to pay for transport down to Patong Beach, which was a hilly 20minute drive away. After taking tuktuks/cabs for 4 days, we decided to rent a car to drive ourselves around - definitely more economical and it allows us more flexibility in moving around. PLUS, it was a manual jeep! :D BERY EXCITING TO DRIVE :)

And we found cheap seafood at Rawai Beach after a local's recommendation! The restaurant was merely in charge of cooking the ingredients that we buy so we went seafood shopping! After the 4 (mega) huge prawns and seabass, we added 2 bowls of noodles and had a very fulfilling lunch!

us waiting for our fish and prawns to be cooked!

the prawns. it was REALLY huge! it looks deceivingly small here.

doggie smelling the fresh fish.

simple holiday, simple food, time well spent :)

Novena is an area that I'm starting to appreciate, in terms of places to chill with friends. Met Debbie for a wholesome Hi-Tea at Lao Beijing today. The strong accent the waiters had made it difficult for us to understand and so we just accidentally ended up making an order of a portion of all the starters and dimsum! Haha! I thought the food could be better though, I always had a very good impression Lao Beijing!

Debbie is having an amazingly slack semester so that just means more time to meet up and check out new eateries! After our very heavy meal, we wandered around and crossed over to united square to check out the shops! There's this Brazillian eatery that looks really good - should check out soon!
On the escalator

And she shared with me something rather shocking experience with an American prof. When Debbie asked if he has tried any exotic food such as pig intestines before, his reply was: 'you will not have to eat such things once Singapore gets rich'. It's appalling how he has been living in the Phillipines for a period of time, visited HK twice (Debbie was at HK when the incident happened) but yet he doesn't know how prosperous Singapore is!

If I were Debbie, I would invite him to come Singapore and see how exactly Singapore is like :D

UP!
you mean, kevin is a girl?

Great movie! Since I got out of the theatres at 7pm till now I am still thinking about how touching and funny this movie is! Caught this movie with 2 dearest buds Xin and Jas. They both cracked me up so many times today at Sushi Tei and our walk from the MRT to Marina Square! Besides embarrassing myself outside Xin Wang (by pronouncing PAO PAO CHAR really loudly and sharply), we had so many other silly moments. Jas never fails to make me go lol (literally). Today, she terrorised a battery-operated softtoy by grabbing hence causing it to fall twice.

So besides all the fun I had with the 2 girls today, I had some major discoveries! Firstly, Macs soft serve is 70cents now! I'm still kinda stuck in the 50cents era. Secondly, Ion Orchard is the cool hangout now. Marina Square was sparse and quiet all afternoon! That's quite sad considering how I used to think that Marina was quite a nice place to hangout with so many eateries and activities to do around that area. Maybe it's just today.

**

Backtrack a little, I was locked out of the house this morning! ): It was a terrible experience but thank goodness doggie was there with me! :) I marvel at my little sister's ability to text me to exclaim at how late I wasn't home yet and at the same time lock me out of the house by forgetting that I'm not home yet! That seems like an oxymoron statement but that's exactly what happened!

So we did the next smartest thing we thought of: sleep in the car!

We carefully unwound the windows such that there was ventilation but not enough for a person's hand to stretch in for my valuables! It was an uncomfortable and extremely sweaty experience because the air ventilation was so minimal! ): Thank goodness I got back into the hse awhile later when the maid woke up.

After 3 days of massive reconnecting with the Singapore landscape updates, I think it's time to stay in tomorrow and enjoy some quality family time :)

I just picked up my laundry from the dryer downstairs. it's 1.12am i am tired but i don't feel like sleeping yet.

it feels like it's been a long week even though only it's just past midweek!

before i forget, here's a preview of dc:

the white house looks PATHETICALLY small behind us. i thought we all looked a bit silly crowding near the fence to take a picture with the white house in a distance.

it was awesome travelling in a group of 8 again, reminds me of the good ol' times we had in Italy last summer. (: hanging out at the usual touristy areas, i was quite appalled when the BOA manager we met today told us that Washington is one of the cities with the highest crime rates!

Ok time to sleep!

ok i'm going to enjoy the internet for awhile more before we change to the other bus without wifi :)

Just came back from the movie 'The Hangover' - hilarious movie that got me working my abs. i think i need to work my muscles more these days instead of just eating all day long.

The weekend was a good one, starting from the crazy amounts of shopping i did on the eve of Independence Day. I swear it's the first time I spent soo much at one shot. It felt good looking at the amount I saved off the price tag though :D I conquered and matched my expectations of us shopping the entire day. Also, it was a good decision not to drive i'm not ready for a left-hand drive YET. 2 wks from now, i'm make my virgin left-hand drive from philly to baltimore yay!

Happy Independence Day USA!

I felt happy to be part of the celebrations. As YJ said, it was a moment of pride and belonging when we stood there listening to The Star Sprangled Banner (: Living up to the title of Kiasu Singaporeans, we arrived at 4pm in anticpation of the 8pm concert (live broadcasting) and 10.30pm fireworks!

girly girls!

That's the Boston skyline behind us. Awesome view isn't it? I wish I brought my tripod to take some good landscape photos. And these girls make my life here a lot more cheerful because...we always seem to have sooooo much to laugh about <3 Let me introduce my dearies!
Parn: she's very easily tickled and is the mummy amongst us! she takes very good care of all of us and insists on helping me carrying my stuff when i have a lot to carry.
Minshin: need me say more. giggly bubbly girly minnie!
Suyi: housemate, who has to wait for me everyday cos i am always late (SORRY!) and we have this tendency to pick out the same clothes. quite freaky!! haha.

Happy 235th birthday America!

The fireworks were the best I have ever seen. And that's how I feel even after I've been told that the fireworks would be really good. It was wayyyy beyond expectations. It was refreshing to see purple because the usual colours were green, yellow and red. They were large, overwhelming, and definitely worth the 6.5hrs wait. :)

ON SUNDAY, IT WAS CLAM CHOWDER TIME!!!!!

Sadly, I did not take photos of any of the clam chowder I had because..heh i was too eager to try them. It was basically an annual harbourfest competition where clam chowder sellers (as I would crudely term them) come tog to wow the greedy people like us who pay a decent fee of 10 dollars to sample all their clam chowders and choose our favourites!

Outside the fest, there was my all-time favourite cereal :D :D :D

SEE SO MANY BOXES FOR FREE.  i wanted to kope one bag home. but i was restrained and my handbag was so small ): so i only took one box home ):

AMERICA is just amazing. the same cereal as the one I have in Singapore, but with like 3 times the number of flavours we get. i wanna buy them all home and have a collection

I was really very pleased to see honey bunches there!

Here's Mr Lobster! I wanted to take a picture with it but it was taking a break so I took a picture of IT instead. it must be so awful having to wear that under the hot sun. -.-

xin: this entry is specially for you <3 sorry we haven't been able to talk much on skype. hope your mummy's recovering well and you're enjoying your summer holidays! i am missing you from halfway across the globe!

I'm sleepy.

The journey to Boston was a long, albeit rather adventurous one. For starters, the handles of my luggage broke, one after another by helpful souls who tried to help lift my unevenly weighted luggage. I would like to console myself that's the reason why my luggage broke (cos i secretly stashed another mini trolley luggage in my mega huge one to accomodate shopping). The brand of my luggage is Swiss Polo, beware!

Silly us spent 45mins trying to figure out how to call a US line and by the time we figured out, there were no cabs within sight. and just as chorming headed towards the main road out of the Logan International Airport to hail a cab, I saw a cab-like vehicle travelling towards me! I hailed it down immediately! Turns out it was the police -.- I gave him the poor student tourist face and told him we needed a cab and POOF he called one for us immediately and we got to the hotel in 15mins! (:

The double room in the hotel fitted 4 of us that night (thanks minshin!) and fast forward to Harvard Summer School life.

This is how my room looks like:

I have double the cupboard space on the other end of my room which means.. no fear of over- shopping :D

and I overlook the Charles River :) I am totally appreciating my accomodation at Leverett House. Awesome view, big room, close proximity to classes - YAY! the only thing is that the gym is quite a far walk away, but then again, with the river next to me, there's no need to go to the gym! (:

Mount Auburn Street - I walk past this on my way to Harvard Yard everyday

This is where my summer school life began (: The friendly lady offered to take a picture for me when I was mindlessly snapping photos while waiting for the rest.

On a side note, I do not like t-mobile. I miss the wonderful reception that o2 and singtel has provided me with all my life.

On a double side note, Harvard has this super duper cool service - Harvard Escort - it basically picks students up on campus whereever they are and send them to their destination in the wee hours of the day. The 'ice cream' Harvard University Van is the coolest vehicle I've seen on campus so far. :D

On a triple side note, Happy 23rd Chor Ming, you're an old man!
